Verifying your list is as simple as 1-2-3! We accept any Text or CSV file in comma or tab delimited format so before you get started with the steps detailed below, please review this article on prepping your list for verification.

In the menu to the left, navigate to the Lists section.

Next, click the blue "Verify List" button in the top right corner. In the following menu you will choose the location of the list you want to verify.

My Computer:
Click the Verify List button, this will launch the file picker, giving you various import options such as uploading from a desktop folder or other locations on your computer.

Custom ESP Integrations:
Under the Verify List menu, this allows you to import directly from a marketing platform such as Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact,  or MailChimp. This feature requires an account with one of these platforms and an existing email list on that account. Depending on the platform used, you will need to enter your credentials or API Key to access your lists. If you do not use one of the services listed please select the My Computer option to upload your list.

Once the list is imported, it is scanned to determine the number of records to verify. This is a short process that can take longer depending on the amount of records in your list.

When the file is prepped you will be shown the total amount of records and a cost estimate. Leave the Export to option set to the default selection of File

Click the Verify List button to begin.

IMPORTANT: You will be billed as soon as you click Verify List

You can also choose to cancel the verification. You will not be billed for this, as there have been no verifications. The list will remain prepped and available for verification unless you delete it.

Below are a list of common import errors and how to deal with them:

  • Illegal Quote: This is the most common error and means that your list has been formatted improperly. This can usually be fixed by opening your list in Excel and re-saving it as a CSV (even if it already is in CSV format).
  • Over 1mm Rows: You can either split your full list into a series of smaller lists, or contact BriteVerify and we will verify this for you. If you do split into smaller list, we recommend doing them one at a time to prevent system slowdown.
  • Email Column Undetermined: We could not find any emails in your list. Either the list contained no emails, or the formatting was incorrect.

After the verification has been authorized, your list will begin loading and the verification process will start. Loading time is dependent on the size of your list.

Once the list has loaded, the verification process will begin.

Once verification is complete, you can see the detailed results by clicking the View Details button. On this screen you will be presented with three panels.

Total Emails: This is a summary of the verification results breaking down the 4 categories: Valid, Invalid, Unknown and Accept All.

Invalid Emails: This is a summary for the total number of Invalid emails and why they were invalid.

Risky Emails: This is a summary of Unknown, Accept All, Disposable and Role Address emails.

These breakdowns provide multiple download options to suit your particular needs. For best results, we strongly recommend mailing only to "Valid" email addresses.

Download Valid
This will download only the verified emails that are considered safe to send. This is the recommended option for sending your email campaigns.

Download Invalid
This will download only the Invalid records in your list. This is recommended for people looking to remove these results from their list manually.

Download Risky
This will download all the Unknown, Accept All, Disposable and Role Address records in the list. This is available for people interested in managing their list knowing that these emails are known to have lower performance in email campaigns.

Download All
This will download all the records in your list, including invalid, accept all, and unknown. If you are downloading your verified list to upload to an ESP, we recommend either downloading the "Valid" option, or the "Safe To Send" option to download the valid email addresses.

More specific download options are also available in the panels for Invalid and Risky emails.

Once you have downloaded any of the results files, you will see something similar to the image below. All of the original columns of data will remain and two new columns will be included at the end of the file where you will find the primary and secondary status results for each email address.

You can delete your list by clicking the red button on the upper right side of the List Details screen.

Important: Once a list is deleted you are no longer able to view or download the results unless that list is re-verified. We do not store your files or keep a backup. Do not delete your list unless you are absolutely sure you have downloaded the results.
